Close Up the Gap.

This week’s blog post is about an idea I’ve been thinking about for quite a while. As part of my work towards creating a circular economy, I am offering an incentive for clients to send their old canine accessories to me. This incentive would come in the form of a discount code or the option to plant a tree. I believe that when items have supposedly reached the end of their use, there is always something that can be done to resurrect them. Rather than allowing them to find their way to landfill, I want to incorporate them back into the cycle of consumption.

I will happily accept any brand of canine paraphernalia, be it Lala Leads, Pets at Home, Pooch Perfect, the list goes on. The way this would work is by the client contacting me directly via email with pictures of disused materials; based on the level of wear and tear, I will then grant a discount code per item ranging from 5 % to a maximum of 30% for items that can be resold as they are, or plant a tree on their behalf. Please note that the client will be responsible for the postage of the item, and any expenses incurred. If I deem the materials to be totally ‘useless’, a word I use very rarely, I will ensure that they are recycled in the correct way via the appropriate process. I have partnered up with alpine non profit organisation, One Tree at a Time; together, we are collecting material that cannot be recycled to send it to a company who will repurpose it and transform it into insulation materials.

I will also soon be launching a secondhand range within my shop. Likewise to the afore mentioned incentive based system, I will be starting a trade in type system, offering part exchange. If you would like to purchase a Lala Leads collar or lead, but your current canine wear is in great nick, and would otherwise be cast aside, please send it to me so we can discuss money off of your purchase. The benefits of this system are that my secondhand range will grow and expand, and you guys can contribute to the closing of the gaps within our system of consumption whilst snagging yourself a fab discount code.
