One Tree at a Time Collaboration.

Hello lovely lot! This week’s blog post is about a collaboration I’m excited to officially introduce. I have recently partnered up with non-profit Alpine organisation ‘One Tree at a Time’ to ensure my business is as eco conscious as possible.

One Tree are on a mission to make the alpine industry more sustainable through supporting different businesses, organisations and individuals to bring about positive environmental change. One Tree firmly believe (rightly so) we have a responsibility to tackle our environmental impact. The guy behind this, the wonderful Gav, helps organisations to implement easy and practical solutions that evoke widespread eco consequences. One Tree has transformed businesses and individuals through workshops, one on ones, social media content and customised implementation of pledges. To date, they have removed over 10,000 single-use plastic bags from supply lines, hugely reduced carbon footprints through their creative re-use programmes and saved realms of material from landfill through second-hand placement. Like LaLa Leads, they are working hard to develop a circular economy with no gaps or loopholes.

I’ve had awesome discussions with Gav about making my business even more environmentally friendly. Here are some of our thoughts!

  • We spoke about chatting to other companies re sending their disused seconds to me for repurpose. This would be great exposure for their brand, as well as providing the opportunity to reach new markets. Exhibit A - Gav has an alpine dog and hadn’t heard of a few of the companies I mentioned.

  • I’ll be making LaLa Leads products for Gav’s shop in the Alps which sells second-hand, re-crafted and repurposed clothing, skis, shoes, household items and more.

  • I learnt that although my postage boxes are sustainably sourced, cardboard actually has a higher carbon footprint than plastic, due to the energy required to make a ‘proper’ product. I am now in the process of checking out a company called ‘Repack’.  At checkout, clients can opt for generic packaging or the slightly more expensive, but sustainable Repack packaging.

  • For each purchase made, I will plant a tree through One Tree. There will also be an option at checkout for the client to plant a tree of their own accord, on top of this.

  • Gav and I will be collecting the waste and offcuts from our separate businesses. When both of have enough collective waste, we will send it to a company who repurpose the waste into interior insulation for housing.

  • The LaLa Loop and Lease system work alongside my collaboration with One Tree perfectly; the rental system ensures we are not throwing away material where it can be reused or repurposed.

As you can see, there are lots of exciting things happening over here at LaLa Leads HQ, especially working alongside environmental magician Gav at One Tree. Together, we have a bit of a ‘lead’ on the eco situation…
