Meet the Maker.
Hey guys! I hope you all had a lovely long Easter weekend with plenty of chocolate. This week, I am devoting my blog to some ‘meet the maker’ content. I want to give you guys a little taste of my life outside of my beloved up-cycling business.
I live a variety of lives, swapping between besotted dog mum, alpine ski instructor, pretty cool wife, fully qualified yoga teacher, lover of all things water and boats, and passionate environmentalist, all alongside my small business. I spend the summer and the autumn in the lovely village of Hamble on the South Coast, with my husband Mike and our working cocker spaniel, Musca. We live right next to the Solent; I while away many hours stand up paddle boarding, cycling on the Isle of Wight, collecting sea glass for friends and family, and working on boats to keep them maintained and serviced. In the winter and spring, you can find me in the French Alps, in my little house in Meribel. Musca spends his winters in the mountains with me, as he adores long, snowy dog walks. Usually during this time, you’ll find me on the beautiful slopes of the Three Valleys, teaching clients from beginner skiers right up to extreme racers or off-piste goers. I have been skiing since I was tiny, and the mountains have been my passion for as long as I can remember.
I love to bake, and I especially love to lick the bowl… brownies, cookies, banana bread, muffins, birthday cakes, all things sweet! I definitely am victim to a chronic sweet tooth and have to practise a lot of self- control when I find myself anywhere near a packet of Haribo or Lindt chocolate! Easter is a difficult time for me (she says as she polishes off her Lindt bunny….). I also gave sourdough a crack in the first lockdown and have had some pretty successful creations since! I love trying new things, my latest project is to create my own beeswax wraps – I’ll definitely let you know how it goes! I am really passionate about creating bits and pieces from items that would otherwise be thrown away, or making my own zero waste products to use around the house.
I have friends and family in all kinds of fun places, from Japan to Honduras to Cornwall to Palma to Svalbard. This has led me on some BRILLIANT adventures, usually accompanied by my lovely husband Mike, who is an absolute genius behind a camera lens; lucky for me, we have lots of incredible shots to show for our escapades.
That’s pretty much me in a nutshell! A lifetime of adventure is what I strive for, as well as ensuring I do all I can to leave this planet as beautiful and natural as I found it. Gandi said ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ and I love my small business for that exact reason.
